Sudlanan Institutional Repository Language, Literature and Communication The former Center for Social History (CSH) under the Research Institute for Culture and Language of the Office of the Vice President for Research, Extension, Planning, and Development is now renamed the Center for Philippine Studies (CPS). Founded by the nationalist educator and former PUP president Dr. Nemesio Prudente, CSH is one of the established centers that began as a research institute in 1986. Renaming the Center in 2021 is not a simple shift in direction, nor does it disregard the history, success, and production of the former Center, but rather to further strengthen and promote the convergence of fields of knowledge and practices that cross communities. The PUP Center for Philippine Studies is an attempt to contribute to national and international discourses towards developing a repository of research and creative production in Philippine Studies that can be utilized not only by the academe but more so by the public.
